Our Services

Psychotherapy & Consultation
Counseling services are provided for individuals, adults, families and children of all ages, for a variety of life adjustment and mental health issues. Everyday life seems to be becoming increasingly stressful for people of all ages. Even the most resilient person can struggle with phases of anxiety, depression or overwhelm, and can notice its effect on relationships, work or school, and self-esteem. Counseling can be particularly effective during these phases of life, not only to resolve the present difficulty, but to promote a level of self-discovery that provides tools for realizing dreams and potential in the future.

Counseling services for families touched by autism spectrum disorders or other developmental conditions are offered as a specialty service. Whether the issue is emotional meltdowns, anxiety, lack of impulse control, or inappropriate behaviors, one-on-one sessions tailored to meet your child's specific needs can minimize frustrations.

Consultations are available to schools, mental health practitioners, and professional groups. These consults may be case-specific for individual children or can be geared toward assisting professionals who need help in designing programs for children and adolescents on the autism spectrum.

Clinical supervision is also available for mental health providers who need training and guidance in this field.

Carrie Sheppard specializes in working with families who struggle with particularly difficult autism challenges.

"Her recommendations exceeded my expectations in their thoroughness and their originality, and they continue in this way in our follow-ups. With great insight, Carrie has steered us toward more successful interactions. My daughter has made progress in many areas of her life since starting RDI."

- A.S., Graduate Student, BC, Canada

Relationship Development Intervention (RDI®)
Relationship Development Intervention® may provide the key piece that is missing from your child's therapy puzzle.

Using Dr. Steven Gutstein's strategies, this method targets an essential area missed by most other therapies: cultivating the genuine desire to create meaningful connections with others. RDI® is a parent-based, easy-to-use approach that expands a child's enjoyment of relationships and paves the way for lifelong social and emotional growth. Click Here to learn more about RDI® >

Education & Training
Professional training is available on an individual or group basis in areas related to psychotherapy and autism treatment. Public speaking on autism related topics such as self regulation, self esteem development, Relationship Development Intervention (RDI®), promoting social, emotional and relational growth, and treating co-occurring conditions in this population, are presentations that can be provided by Carrie Sheppard, M.Ed. If there are other topics for which you may be interested in locating a speaker, please contact our office at help@mindsourcecenter.com.
